Dr Despina Mavromati participated in the International Sports Law Conference “Between Multi-club Ownership and Popular Shareholding: The New Challenges for Football Clubs”, held at the University of Bari Aldo Moro on 6 June 2026.

The conference, organised by the University of Bari in collaboration with REX Sport, brought together academics and international sports law practitioners to discuss emerging models of football governance, with particular attention to multi-club ownership, competitive integrity and supporter participation in football clubs.

Despina Mavromati introduced the session on popular shareholding in football, which examined different European approaches through contributions on the German, Spanish and Italian models by Frank Rybak, Lucas Ferrer and Professor Ugo Patroni Griffi.
